L’oreal pro-keratin refill review

It has been a long day in the lab and the first I want to do is get into the hot bath and apply L’Oreal pro-keratin refill hair mask.

Surprisingly, I don’t own many hair masks and L’Oreal pro-keratin is the only one I own. And being completely honest I bought it “blindly”, did not check any ingredients or so. The packing says it is pro-keratin refill, which means restoring hair, probably damaged, dry and porous hair. Which is why I thought this might be the product worth a try.

My hair is not that porous or damaged, but being in the lab and office, with no windows, gosh it does start feeling heavy and dry! The main ingredient is Cetearyl alcohol, which moisturises hair and it is pretty common in hair products.

My favourite amino acids, such as arginine, glutamic acid and serine are great as they are essential to maintaining the strength of the hair.

However, I am not too keen on mineral oil as it does have mixed reviews. I found research article comparing mineral oil against coconut oil and certainly coconut oil is much better for hair. Mineral oil can also leave hair feeling more heavy, which for people with curly hair might be an issue. Also, parabens come to my attention as a lot of us are trying to avoid them. My opinion – they are not bad as they prevent bad bacteria growth. As always you will find a bit of fragrance, which is standard in hair products.

Do I like it? Yes and no. I like that it only takes about 5-10 minutes to keep on my hair and it does feel well moisturised. However, the smell is very powerful and to be honest  I could probably get the same effect with using a good conditioner. But, I do think it is a great product for those who have dyed, bleached, very dry hair.

Have you tried this product before? Any other hair masks I should be aware of? Let me know!
