On a daily basis I get people asking me how to improve hair health, what shampoo or conditioner to use. I always try to reply to messages and give my best suggestions, however I also realised that haircare products alone might not have that full 100% effect. I gave some serious thought (using science) and realised that there are few simple ways that we can use everyday to improve our hair.
Number 1: Stop sleeping with your hair in a bun (or at least do it occasionally). Hair buns usually causes hair breakage, because of bending the hair. Depending on how tight you have your hair bun it also stretches the hair , which is not ideal. When we asleep we also rotate on our pillow (dreaming about that fancy holiday in St.Tropez?), which again is extra friction. Also, I tried sleeping with hair bun thinking I might wake up looking like Gisele, but instead I looked like I have been exposed to insane humidity. Hair buns are day time style, night time is to let your hair down.
Number 2: Stop rubbing hair into each other during hair wash. I constantly repeat this, yet I still notice on YouTube beauty gurus doing that. Water already makes hair fiber swell and break, therefore rubbing hair into each other during washing just makes things worse. Be gentle during hair wash – very gentle!
Number 3: Prioritise hair wash instead of dry shampoo. Even though I said hair wash induces hair damage itself, excessive dry shampoo usage can really upset scalp, by disturbing pH and yeast activity living on our scalp skin. I noticed more and more people getting oily,dry scalps and they swear that they use dry shampoo approx. 5 times a week, which is too much! Reduce the usage of dry shampoo to the minimum you can.
